Sanitary valves are available in a variety of models and achieve many different goals. For example, ball valves work by regulating water flow through a quarter of a turn. They are known as ‘ball-valves’ because the valves contain a structure that resembles a ball, holed in the middle.

They allow/restrict the flow of fluids. As both ends of the valve and the hole are in line, fluid can flow through efficiently. To halt the flow of liquid, you simply change the position of the sphere in the passageway, through a right angle. This prevents the flow of liquid from passing through.

These sanitary valves tend to be used when the valve needs to be completely open or fully closed. Ball valves are not recommended when the flow of the liquid needs to be finely-tuned.
